Novatek CEO expects no serious US sanctions against company

MOSCOW, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- Leonid Mikhelson, CEO and co-owner of Russian independent gas producer Novatek, sees no risks of the company falling under any serious U.S. sanctions, Mikhelson said on Friday during an annual general meeting of the company’s shareholders.

“We don’t see the possibility of any serious sanctions to be extended on Novatek,” he said, adding that the company’s strategy encompasses introduction of technological sanctions against Novatek.

Novatek has been operating under sectorial sanctions of the U.S. that restrict access to financing and technologies since 2014.
